If you live in Manhattan or Brooklyn it is more than likely that you live in an apartment with no easy access to a grill, but why let that stop you from enjoying delicious BBQ tasting food? With a slow cooker and a broiler, you can get pretty close to the real thing – especially if you have the right sauce.
Stubbs BBQ has released a new flavor: Green Chile Marinade now available in grocery stores (and at www.stubbsbbq.com) for a limited time only. They sent me a bottle of their marinade to try along with a recipe for slow cooker pork. The benefit for us is that this Green Chile Marinade is gluten free, and free of all of the top 8 allergens as defined by the FDA. That means this marinade is “safe” for me and my family.* Here are the ingredients from the bottle:
WATER, GREEN CHILE, HATCH GREEN CHILE, PINEAPPLE JUICE, SALT BROWN SUGAR, JALAPENO POWDER, NATURAL FLAVORINGS, LIME JUICE, VINEGAR, CORN STARCH, NATURAL SPICES, XANTHAN GUM
I’ve just put the pork in the slow cooker and added the Green Chili Marinade. How is that for easy? And now I’m going out for a walk. Check back soon. In my next post I’ll let you know how it tastes.
*what is safe for us may not be safe for you, please read ingredients – always.
**Disclosure: Stubbs sent me their product for review. I haven’t received any money from them for mentioning their product.
